About the American shako

I made this shako around 1975. It is based on a U.S. Army shako from around 1840, with hair-on cowhide substituted for black leather. It should have a pom-pom on the front top held by a round brass stamping, and the brass plate of the eagle probably isn't quite right.

The top of the hat is of molded vegetable tanned cowhide. All hand-stitched with waxed thread.
